:) Moved from Gmail to Pine recently. I am lucky enough to have a large

:) amount of disk space for my email and I liked Gmail's feature of

:) archiving all mail, so I would like to have the same or similar

:) functionality in Pine. I'm wondering if it is possible to make the

:) message delete functionality actually archive the message instead of

:) deleting it for good?

Alex,

There is one way to do this, which would involve that you get accostumed
to not deleing messages. You can make messages in your inbox (or in
general in your incoming) folders be "archived" (saved) to a folder of
your choice, for this to work you have to define which folder you will use
in the option

read-message-folder =

and you need to enable

[X] auto-move-read-msgs

you can also do this for any incoming folder by defining the variable

incoming-archive-folders =

This would be done automatically when you quit pine, but it involves not
deleting messages, just "reading" them.

On the other hand, you can also patch pine to make the read-message-folder
depending on sender, to, etc. The patch that does this is in my web page
and is called "Define your own rules...". I hope this helps you.
