[Pine-info] Filters with multiple copies of pine running

So I have a filter that moves messages from one mailing list into another
folder.  The filter has recent = yes set.

If I'm running two pines, I get multiple messages copies in the destination
folder.

Is there any way to deal with this?   There's a race condition (and/or I'm
misunderstanding when recent-ness is unset, if it's only unset the next
time that particular pine instance checks mail again), I guess..
I had thought that each copy of pine would have recent set on really only
the specific messages it saw as new.
