[Pine-info] Removing /notls makes me enter password changing
mailboxes?

Yes, that's normal. Pine/Alpine consider the secure and insecure
connections to be two separate connections for the purpose of reusing the
password. The reason is so that you won't connect securely to a host and
then later inadverdently connect insecurely with your password supplied
automatically. There is a bit of overkill to prevent that but not too
much. The second login should then not need to ask you.
