An important anniversary today for us DOCLINE users!  I don't think they
had a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue in DC, but I'm sure that was an
inadvertent oversight on the President's part.  Mrs. Bush probably just
forgot to remind him.  :)

But seriously, thanks so much to all of you for your enthusiastic adoption
of DOCLINE on the Web, and for all the suggestions and input that you've
provided!

All,

Today, July 17, marks the first 'birthday' of the web-based DOCLINE
system.  The DOCLINE team would like to celebrate this first year and
acknowledge its users by making note of some special milestones.

Since its release on July 17, 2000, DOCLINE users have assisted NLM in
improving the system with their valuable feedback. Thanks to this input,
DOCLINE 1.1 (October 30, 2000) and DOCLINE 1.2 (May 6, 2001) included
major enhancements to Status/Cancel, Loansome Doc and added multiple
SERHOLD reports.

Over the past year, DOCLINE libraries have input almost 3 million requests
with a fill rate of 91.7%.  These impressive statistics illustrate the
tremendous success of DOCLINE and of ILL cooperation amongst DOCLINE
libraries.  The DOCLINE Team is proud to be part of this accomplishment.

DOCLINE Summary Statistics as of July 17, 2001:
3,156 Active DOCLINE Libraries
2,031 Libraries have added or updated 246,879 holdings
1,189 Libraries have deleted 6,522 holdings

2,939,367 ILL transactions
   91.7%  Filled
     3.4%  Not Filled
     2.4%  Canceled by Borrower
     2.2%  Beyond Routing Map
      0.4% Expired

847,625  Loansome Doc transactions
   68.3%  Filled
   18.6%  Transferred to DOCLINE
   10.3%  Not Filled
     2.8%  Expired

NLM is currently working on DOCLINE 1.3, which will include a "Resubmit of
retired requests" enhancement.  NLM staff continue to work on the DOCLINE
quarterly statistics.

NLM would like also like to thank the staff of the National Network of
Libraries of Medicine (http://nnlm.gov) for their capable and dedicated
contributions to the continued development of DOCLINE and for helping to
train its many users.
