The MEDLINEplus search engine did undergo some changes last week. Changes
that were made to the user interface included:

1. The health topic is no longer linked in the gray bar with the name of
the health topic. Instead, it is the first link of the search results.
(Usability testing showed that most folks did not realize that the health
topic in the gray bar was a link.)

2. The default results display shows five health topics instead of three.
Each topic shows four links.

Other changes were made to the search engine itself, to improve the
precision of search results.

More improvements are being tested to improve retrieval and speed.
