24th ANNUAL ADOLESCENT SEXUALITY CONFERENCE
     
DATE:  APRIL 19 & 20, 1999  -  Monday & Tuesday  
LOCATION:  SEASIDE, OREGON
SPONSOR::  MARION COUNTY HEALTH DEPT. 
COST:  $150  (includes 2 luncheons)
     
This conference is for those who work with adolescents and want to 
increase their knowledge and skillls in addressing adolescent sexuality 
issues.  It's also a great place to learn about other programs and network 
with people working on these issues.
     
A comprehensive conference, it covers a broad variety of topics around 
adolescent sexuality.
     
TOPICS include:
Ways to reach teens; research based curricula; date rape; relationship 
issues; HIV/STD updates; HIV Postive  Speakers in the Schools Program 
and teens; sex abuse survivors groups(working with teens); teen 
pregnancy prevention; being an approachable adult; abstinence as part 
of a sexuality curricula; adult men having sex with teen girls; teen 
suicide; working with conservative communities; body image and its 
relationshiop to pregnancy and sexuality; contraceptive update; 
community programs  sexual minorities-working to make schools safe for 
gay and lesbian youth/support groups;diversity issues; working with the 
Latino Community; teen theatre and other ways teens are involved 
working on  these topics, sexual harassment issues in the schools,etc.
     
A Northwest  Regional conference, it also draws attendees from as 
diverse states as ALaska, Hawaii, Montana, New York, California, 
Nevada, etc.  Keynote speakers are drawn from around the US.

COME TO SEASIDE!  It's on the beautiful Oregon coast!  Approx. 2 hours 
west of Portland.  It can be reached from the north by coming down 1-5 
then across the bridge near Kelso or the bridge at Astoria.  It only about 
16 miles south of Astoria.
