Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center has new injury prevention
resources available in bulk for organizations in Washington State and as
single copies if outside Washington State. See Descriptions below for:
* Free Interactive Safety Posters
* Free Drowning Prevention Posters or Postcards
* Free Booster Seat Brochures, Flyers and Coupons
Free Interactive Safety Posters!
Interactive posters about general safety, making decisions and emergency
preparedness are available for kids ages 5-12 years old. There are safety
activities with a particular focus on falls, fire, safety equipment and
calling 911. When kids have finished the activities and filled out the
postcard that is enclosed with the poster, they can send in their postcard
to get a Safety All-Star prize package delivered to them in the mail.
Note: Kids who return the postcard before June 30, 2000 will be entered in
a drawing to win Mariners tickets. Those who return the postcard between
July 1, 2000 and November 30, 2000 will be entered in a drawing to win a
Mariners baseball cap.
If you would like free posters for your organization, please contact Megan
Murphy at (206) 527-5797 or
mmurp2 at chmc.org. Posters are available by the box (200 per box).
Be Smart, Be Safe, Be a Safety All-Star is the theme of this recently formed
campaign between Children's, SAFECO and the Seattle Mariners. The
underlying approach builds on parent role-modeling, skills, confidence and
beliefs, and on a child's ability to make good decisions.
Free Drowning Prevention Posters or Postcards!
Posters and postcards for adolescents on wearing life jackets are available.
The slogan is "Know the water. Know your limits. Wear a life jacket."
The postcards have the same look as the posters but have additional drowning
prevention tips on the back.
Posters and postcards come in packs of 5 or 25. There is also a
reproducible tip sheet. If you would like any of these items for your
organization, please contact Megan Murphy at (206) 527-5797 or
mmurp2 at chmc.org.
Developed though a partnership of Children's Hospital and Regional Medical
Center, Washington State Department of Health, Regence Blue Shield and
Mustang Survival.
Free Booster Seat Brochures, Flyers and Coupons!
There is a new booster seat brochure and flyer to help educate parents and
childcare providers. It covers: Who needs a booster seat, why booster seats
are necessary, the different kinds of boosters and where to obtain further
information.
The booster seat brochures, flyers and coupons come in packs of 100. If you
would like free brochures, flyers or coupons for your organization, please
contact Megan Murphy at (206) 527-5797 or mmurp2 at chmc.org. For more
information go to the website at www.boosterseat.org. Materials will soon

The Washington State Booster Seat Coalition and the King County Booster Seat
Campaign are coordinated by Harborview Injury Prevention and Research
Center, Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, the Washington
Traffic Safety Commission and the Safety Restraint Coalition and is funded
in part by a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
