This is a sort of shameless promotion of a very interesting organization.
The Social Development Research Group or SDRG is well known in school health
arenas, especially in the area of prevention. SDRG currently has three jobs
listed on the PNW HEALTH Job Bank page -
http://www.pnwhealth.com/jobbank.htm. If you or a colleague are looking,
check the page for:
* Project Director
* Intervention Specialist
* Research Analyst

I think SDRG would be a remarkable place for a professional to work.

Here is the a description of the organization's focus:
"SDRG's research focuses on the prevention and treatment of health and
behavior problems among young people. Drug abuse, delinquency, risky sexual
behavior, violence, and school dropout are among the problems addressed. J.
David Hawkins, director, and Richard F. Catalano, associate director, began
in 1979 to develop the Social Development Strategy, which provides the
theoretical basis for risk- and protective-focused prevention that underlies
much of the group's research.

More than 50 SDRG researchers and staff members contribute to 14 current
research projects with over $4 million in annual funding. Over 250 articles,
books, and monographs have been produced by this group. Access to the
University's vast libraries is augmented by the group's own collection of
more than 10,000 reprints, books, and journals. Projects are supported by
extensive data collection and data management teams and a strong
administrative unit."

SDRG's research translates into remarkable programs and products. Visit
their web site - http://depts.washington.edu/sdrg/ - to learn more about
projects in the categories: community projects, school projects, and family
projects.

If you have heard phrases like:
Communities that Care
Risk and Protective Factors
Social Development Strategy
you have heard about SDRG. The research has also translated into products
that are marketed through the Channing L. Bete Company.

If you are interested, take a look. Margo
