Friends:
Just out of curiousity, I was wondering if any of you had engaged
in a charette workshop/event or had lead one and thus know
something about the process.
Charettes are "intensive brainstorming sessions where volunteer
participants sketch and illustrate their ideas for planning and
design solutions and present them to the community." They are
used to energize a constituency and get things done. It is a
valuable tool for laying the foundation for the development of a
more formal plan (i.e. comprehensive plan, master plan, strategic
plan, etc.). It is most effective as a component of the formal
planning and design process).
If you have attended one of these events or have lead a charette
I would love to hear about it just because it sounds like such an
interesting process.
I am doing an annotated bibliography for Northwest Public Health
and will happily share my annotations on charettes with you in
the upcoming PNW SOUNDER newsletter (due date around April 21).
Thanks,
Laura
