*Health Information Specialist *

The Puget Sound Health Alliance was created to forge a sustainable
leadership coalition - among patients, providers, purchasers, health plans
and others - to improve the quality of patient care for a healthier
community, at a price more people can afford. The work of the
Alliancefocuses on defining, measuring, reporting and rewarding high
quality,
efficient health care in the Puget Sound region.

A key component of this effort is to regularly produce *shared reports
featuring regional health data for quality improvement and cost control
purposes*. The Health Information Specialist will be the principal support
staff for project management and analysis related to the shared reporting
initiative. The position reports to the Alliance's Director of Health
Information and involves working closely with data aggregation vendors,
analytic consultants, and key representatives of organizations involved in
the Alliance.

*Duties and Responsibilities*: The Alliance seeks an exceptionally strong
and quantitatively-oriented individual who is experienced, capable, and
comfortable working within a dynamic, multi-faceted project for which
continuous planning, oversight, and management is essential. In addition to
its considerable staff-level duties, the position will also include direct
work with industry experts and top executives among health care purchasers,
providers, and health plans in the Puget Sound region. The position will
encompass diverse tasks and responsibilities, from highly technical
data-processing matters to regional business concerns that require an
understanding of the complexities of the heath care sector. Major
responsibilities of this position include:

            1. Day-to-day project management of the shared reporting
initiative, including vendor relationships, critical deadlines, and resource
planning using Microsoft Project.

            2. Regular progress updates for Alliance leadership.

            3. Planning and execution of report production, distribution,
and support activities.

            4. Development of pragmatic recommendations for improving the
shared reports in future production cycles.

            5. Ongoing negotiations with existing and new Alliance members
and others who wish to supply their administrative data for the shared
reporting initiative.

            6. Being an active and dedicated member of the Alliance team.

*Qualifications*: Candidates should have a Bachelors degree in health or
business administration, ideally with an emphasis on health informatics or
project management. Masters level candidates are preferred, as is
significant, industry-relevant experience. The candidate should also have
the following qualifications, listed in approximate order of importance:

            • Strong organizational skills: proven ability to work
effectively on complex, multi-part projects simultaneously, to manage
multiple deadlines, and to anticipate and coordinate resources.

            • Experience managing data vendors and consultants within a
"systems development" environment, focusing on critical factors such as
scope, cost, testing, and timing.

            • Direct project coordination experience using Microsoft
Project.

            • Strong quantitative aptitude, including an understanding of
statistics, coupled with experience using administrative health care data,
such as claims and eligibility records, for measuring, analyzing, and
aggregating provider performance on utilization, cost, and quality measures.

            • A commitment to high-quality communication, including a
demonstrated ability to produce and deliver clear, well-organized
presentations on health information topics to audiences with widely varied
backgrounds.

            • Experience creating compelling and meaningful end-user reports
displaying health quality and cost information that is actionable by a wide
range of audiences, such as providers, consumers, health plans, and
purchasers.

This full or part time position offers a unique opportunity to join with
like-minded individuals to successfully transform the health care system in
the Puget Sound region.
