CCPH member Nina Wallerstein has been developing participatory research 
methodologies and empowerment intervention research for over 25 years. She has 
worked in both North America and Latin America and conducted research in 
healthy city initiatives, adolescent and women's health empowerment 
intervention, and community health development. She collaborates with Native 
American tribes in New Mexico and does cross-national research on power and 
empowerment with Brazilian colleagues and the Pan American Health Organization 
Participatory Evaluation Network.
