The Innovative Programs Research Group (IPRG) <
http://depts.washington.edu/iprg/ > is an externally-funded entity within
the School of Social Work at the University of Washington. Funding from the
National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the Department of Defense (DOD)
is currently supporting studies in which psychosocial interventions are
being evaluated with adults and adolescents in randomized controlled trials.
A full-time position is currently available for a social/behavioral
scientist at IPRG. We seek a post-doctoral scholar able to take a lead on a
five-year NIDA-funded randomized clinical trial (The Teen Marijuana
Check-Up) evaluating methods for engaging adolescents who are heavy
marijuana users into intervention services and to promote change in
marijuana use.
Responsibilities of the post-doctoral associate primarily center on project
direction, which would include supervision of research assistants and
counselors on the implementation of a randomized controlled trial;
development of project protocols and materials; direction of participant
recruitment, enrollment and retention; recruitment of school sites and
maintenance of relationships with schools; training and supervision of staff
members; management of project timeline; and data management, analysis and
dissemination. Opportunities for professional development through mentoring
of senior investigators, involvement in future collaborations, and
authorship on publications are available.
Salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines and applicant experience. A
comprehensive benefits package will also be provided.
Required qualifications:
* PhD in social work, psychology or closely related field with
excellent writing and analysis skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
* Experience with social scientific design.
Preferred qualifications:
* Knowledge and interest in motivational enhancement therapy and
treatment of addictions.
University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
This position is currently funded through March 2015 with a possibility of
continued funding beyond that date.
