General Purpose: Under general direction, develops, administers,
coordinates, and implements community outreach and education programs.
Duties include various activities such as determining the need for
information; researching and selecting appropriate educational/outreach
materials; making presentations to students, the public, government agency
and gaming industry employees, and others; researching, developing,
updating, coordinating, and implementing plans and programs; and preparing
educational and/or community outreach surveys or reports. Represents
programs to clients, participants, and/or members of the public. Perform
specialized duties in support of program activities.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities:



The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of
all duties performed, only a representative summary of the primary duties
and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties
listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.



. Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement quality community
education and outreach programs for the Evergreen Council on Problem
Gambling (ECPG) to build public awareness and understanding and promote
education, risk reduction, and healthy behaviors, and inform community
members of services available.

. Develop partnerships with community agencies, organizations, and
businesses to encourage program participation and sponsorship.

. Prepare exhibits, brochures, flyers, posters, and other materials;
reviews, selects, and orders informational and educational literature.

. Prepare educational materials such as brochures, fact sheets,
pamphlets, displays, and other educational/outreach materials, provide
information for newsletter and website identifying new and updated education
material;

. Ensure that community outreach work is meeting ECPG's mission,
vision, and goals.

. Help maintain databases and any reports required for project
tracking.

. Prepare, plan, and facilitate program-related meetings and
collaborate with community and stakeholder organizations (health care
professionals and treatment providers, educators, students, school
districts, elected officials, community and state agencies, Tribal
representatives, gaming industry members, etc.)

. Compose written communications, printed materials, and or news
releases related to programs; edit materials for accuracy, appearance,
readability, and style, and prepare correspondence.

. Work with graphic designer and web master to keep program-related
webpage up-to-date.

. Develop and maintain social media information (Twitter, Facebook,
YouTube, etc.)

. Work collaboratively as a team member to ensure program
effectiveness and provide input on projects/programs that will maximize
positive impacts on the community.

. Develop and create audio/visual materials and maintain
audio-visual equipment and resource files.

. Research funding sources, collaborate in preparing grant proposals
and developing work plans.

. May supervise clerical, administrative, or office personnel or
interns/volunteers.

. Perform administrative and other related duties as required, such
as data entry, answering telephones, maintaining e-mail correspondence, etc.




Minimum Qualifications:



Education and Experience:

An AS or AA (2-year college degree); Bachelors Degree preferred, in
education, health education, public relations, or other related field and
two years of responsible experience in outreach programming, education, or
public relations. Education may be substituted for additional experience on
a year-for-year basis.



Required Licenses or Certifications:

. Must possess a valid Washington Driver's License.



Required Skill in:

. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with
staff, community organizations, businesses, the media, government and
industry members, and the general public.

. Proficiency with MS Office, especially MS Word, Excel, Outlook,
and PowerPoint and other applicable software to successfully perform
essential job functions of the position.

. Strong communication skills - ability to write and speak clearly
and effectively.

. Supervise the work of others and work with others in developing
programs and plans.

. Prepare coherent and meaningful reports.

. Capacity to explain complex information and issues in a manner
that is easy to understand.

. Strong organizational and planning skills and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, and meet
deadlines.

. Strong plus if able to communicate and/or understand other
languages.



Physical Demands/Work Environment:

. Work is performed in a standard office environment and off-site
environments across the state of Washington.

. Travel, including driving to presentations, meetings, and
seminars, etc.

. Subject to sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and
lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
