[Pophealth] minutes of Sept 19 meeting

Present Jeanne, Shabnam, Camille, Lilla, Stephanie, Julie and Stephen

- reviewed the history of the Forum, and recent events, describing the 
just concluded presentation to the Epidemiology Brown Bag at the 
Department of Health in Olympia by Linn on teaching population health at 
the middle and high school levels at which there was much discussion

- decided to get experience with teaching and four people signed up to 
take our existing curricular materials and go to a high school class this 
fall, with Camille being the lead

- discussed getting good at public speaking and Jeanne talked about her 
progress with Toastmaster's and doing 7 minute presentations of our ideas

- Our Forum will take part in a Red Square Fair September 28, with a table 
there from 10:30 to 2:30. Those who want to participate please contact 
Shabnam (shabnamz at u.washington.edu)

- Stephen speaking at the UW Departartment of Medicine Grand Rounds, Oct 
12, 8 to 9 am T 624 "Inequality Kills: the link between economic justice 
and health" and all are invited

- Next meeting will be Jeanne presenting what she has learned about public 
speaking on Monday, October 23 at 8:30 in H 670. This will be an 
opportunity for all of us to consider how we can improve our skills 
talking about population health.
