I wish this information could come to the attention of David Brooks. His column in this morning's Seattle Times shows ignorance on the part of several people who you'd think might know better.

Free Speech TV ran the David Pakman show which ran a segment on the relative declining health of Americans.

Credit was given to the "U of W Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluations" for providing a county by county life expectancy analysis. Data states life expectancy in the U.S.is 37th in the world. Women were especially impacted in U.S. counties. For years 1997 to 2007 number of counties where women's health position dropped "exploded" to 737.

The story still relates the figures to health care, avoiding the social determinants of health issues (quite usual by now), but at least there is some discussion about the U.S. decline in relative position with other "first world" societies.
