OCLC Western is pleased to announce the Western Digital Forum --
Newspaper Digitization. The Western digital forum is presented by
the Western Digital & Preservation Services Program

The event will provide a national forum for the discussion of issues
relating to newspaper digitization and will provide an opportunity to
continue
the national discussion of collaborative solutions to the digitization
of newspapers.

Thursday, August 11 & Friday, August 12, 2005

Holiday Inn Portland, Oregon - Downtown Convention Center
REGISTRATION FEE:
$75 by July 15th, $100 after July 15th

The forum will highlight existing major projects, encourage discussion
of problems relating to newspapers in digital format, and foster
collaboration
on finding solutions and funding mechanisms. Speakers will discuss
issues such as funding projects, indexing, metadata, copyright,
permissions
and foster discussion that leads to solutions. The event is
co-sponsored by the California Newspaper Project
