The 2nd Annual Western Digital Forum Sound and Moving Image Collections

is August 10-11, 2006 at The Sainte Claire Hotel in San Jose,
California.

This year's Forum focuses on sound and moving image materials, which are

some of the most remarkable and unique assets possessed by libraries and
other institutions. They represent both important

historical sources from the past century, and fascinating insights into
our society and imagination. Digitizing, preserving and

exposing these materials to the public present unique challenges and
opportunities in terms of technology, logistics and funding.

Topics include:

- Preservation & digitization of sound and media collections

- Notable sound and moving image preservation projects

- Funding strategies

- Creating metadata for media collections

- Permission and copyright issues for sound and media
