Dear Northwest Preservation,
You are invited to participate in the IFCPP 2008 Annual Conference, Seminar, Exhibits & Certification Program on Sunday, August 17, 2008. Please click the link below, view the invitation, and respond by clicking either the "Yes" (I'd like more information), or "No" (I can't participate this year) button at the bottom of the invitation. Your response is greatly appreciated. We hope you can join us!
The IFCPP Tenth Annual Conference will be held in Boston, MA, August 17-20, 2008 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers. We are very excited about this unique opportunity to explore a new and outstanding cultural community (with meetings conducted in Boston's finest historic hotel and several opportunities to visit area cultural institutions). The theme for this year's big event will be "Getting Your Hands Dirty – Taking the Extra Step".
The 2008 conference will run 3 full days, plus pre-conference and post-conference activities. In addition to several timely new general sessions, we will again be offering CIPS, CIPM, and CIPM II certification classes. Sessions for administrators, managers, directors, and other professionals will feature a wide range of expanded special subjects.
Co-hosted by the New England Chapter of the IFCPP and Harvard University Art Museums, the Foundation will continue the tradition of bringing the very best in programs, presenters, and conference activities to attendees from across the U.S. and abroad, with representation from every aspect of the professional spectrum. The IFCPP conference team welcomes administrators, facilities managers, human resources personnel, registrars, curatorial staff, security staff, and law enforcement professionals from cultural and public institutions of any size or scope to participate in the leading protection event of the year. Instructors and presenters are the nation’s leading authorities in the cultural property protection community.
This year’s special presentations include informative sessions about the rising crime of art theft. We’ll examine recent thefts, discuss causation, and outline objective prevention measures. Fires continue to plague cultural properties of all types. Our leading fire protection practitioners will offer professional guidelines to protection and prevention. The way we view cultural property protection is usually from the security manager’s viewpoint. This year we’ll turn the tables and present the viewpoint of director’s, registrars, curators, and senior managers…their expectations of security, and a realistic picture of what they actually experience. And we'll be adding an all-new session track for outside organizations and agencies to present information on a variety of cultural property protection topics and services.
Looking for the new and latest in technology? You won’t have to wait long, with exciting advances in electronic system management, video surveillance, and exhibit protection always on the horizon. Our technology experts will offer a great “show and tell” about what’s new, practical applications, and reliability factors. And that’s not all! Complete course descriptions and program announcements will be available soon.
The IFCPP offers essential training and education in this very specialized field, and the only certification programs recognizing and enhancing the skills and experience of those who protect our public and cultural facilities. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to acquire the latest information on the protection of your institutions!
Make sure to register and reserve your seats early, as space is limited this year, and early bird discounts expire at the end of March. We hope that you'll be able to join us for another outstanding IFCPP event, and that you'll bring your families to enjoy Boston and the privileged activities that our hosts will be offering.
