[pubcookie-users] Reply to IIS memory leaks (Sly Upah)

Hi Sly,

I think the best way to judge the severity of memory leaks is to
consider how reliable the application performs in the real world.

We've been using it on a public facing web server farm that supports
around 50,000 named users and perhaps a few hundred concurrent
connections.

We've only run into minor compatibility problems with the pubcookie
isapi, while reliability has been exemplary.

If you search unix or Windows documentation for known issues around
memory leaks, I have full confidence that you'll find dozens and dozens
of examples.

My advice (to your user) would be to try it and see - and have an idea
of what plan B will look like. I would be surprised if these known
issues are significant, but I guess it's prudent to be prepared.

Hi-

I would really like for to use Pubcookie to front one of our IIS web
apps but
the employee who developed the app and who I asked to think about using
Pubcookie is really freaking out about the "Known problems" section of
the
Pubcookie documentation; most notably, the "memory leaks" stuff.

As a *nix person myself, I'm not sure what reassuring advice I may
offer,
so can anybody validate for me how well Pubcookie is working for them so
I can tell him not to worry?

The alternative - he wants to develop a login page in .Net.
