*March 13, 3:30 pm, Thomson 317*.
Ramya Sreenivasan, SUNY Buffalo, Dept. of History and Visiting Lecturer at
the University of Washington, will read from her book *The Many Lives of a
Rajput Queen *(UW Press, 2007).
The medieval Rajput queen Padmini has been the focus of numerous South Asian
narratives since the 13th century. Ramya Sreenivasan investigates these
legends and uses Padmini as a means of illustrating the power of gender
norms in constructing heroic memory.
