*Study Bengali at UW in Winter 2011*
Register for BENGALI 312 in Winter 2011 to start a year-long sequence in
Elementary Bengali.
By Summer 2011 you will become eligible to apply for:
· Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships: Pays full UW tuition
and provides a stipend for year long and for summer study. · Critical
Language Study Fellowships: Study in Dhaka, Bangladesh or Kolkata, India
with full travel and stipend paid.
Bengali is spoken by 300 million people in the world.
Bengali is spoken in Bangladesh, home of Grameen Bank and its successful
micro-credit programs. Bengali is spoken in West Bengal, India home of
successful social programs for people’s participation in politics. Alumni of
the UW Bengali and other language programs now work in the US Foreign
Service, Development NGOS, Journalism, and Universities around the world. GIVE
