[Ssnet_list] SSNet reminder: Center for Biological Futures - Monday at 4:00, Simpson Center

Coming up fast: the presentation by Roger Brent on the Center for Biological Futures, established this spring at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, and on "Biological Futures in a Globalized World," a cluster of interdisciplinary projects that will be jointly sponsored by the Simpson Center and FHCRC over the next two years.    

These projects include a faculty research consortium in summer 2011 and 2012 that will provide four faculty with summer salary fellowships. Here's an initial description of the program, details to follow on Monday.

Biological Futures in a Globalized World
2011 Summer Research Consortium Faculty Fellowships

We seek four University of Washington faculty to join the inaugural 2011 “Biological Futures” Summer Research Consortium, jointly sponsored by the Simpson Center for the Humanities at the University of Washington and the Center for Biological Futures at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. 

Faculty Fellows will receive $10,000 in summer salary (plus benefits) to support research projects related to the core mission of the Center for Biological Futures and participation in meetings of the Research Consortium from 1 July through mid-August 2011. The deadline for proposals is 30 April 2011.
