Subject: POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

NEW YORK, SYRACUSE  13244-1020.  Syracuse University.  Full-time
tenure-track ASSISTANT PROFESSOR appointment.  Ph.D. required by the time
of appointment.

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST with expertise in physical
geography and environmental applications.  We seek someone able to
integrate GIS with departmental proficiencies in physical geography,
cartographic communication, and spatial statistics.  Duties include
managing the Geographic Information and Analysis (GIA) Laboratory; this
responsibility is offset by a 25% reduction in normal teaching obligations.
 Syracuse University is a founding member of the University Consortium for
Geographic Information Science.  The successful candidate will be expected
to teach introductory and advanced courses in GIS and environmental analysis.
