Assistant Professor. Tenure-track position starting Fall, 1999, in the
area of Geographic Information Systems. PhD in geography or a related
discipline is required. Applicants will have primary teaching interests
in the technical aspects of GIS at both introductory and advanced levels,
including topics such as GIS macro language programming, GIS component
software, spatial databases, and/or spatial algorithms. Research
specialties are open, but a preference is for research that applies GIS
and/or spatial analysis to geographic problems. A commitment to research
and to securing external funds is essential. The Department has its own
computer laboratory and technical-support staff, and opportunities exist
within the University at Buffalo to interact with some 60 faculty and
research staff across 20 departments or research units who have ongoing
interests in GIS-related research. Please sent letter of application, a
