The following two positions are available:
POSITION 1

GIS (Geographic Information Systems) - Tenure-track Assistant or Associate
Professor

The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs is one of the top ten Urban
Affairs schools in the nation. It has been ranked number two in the nation for
City Management/Public Policy specialization by U.S. News and World Report,
1998.
The qualified candidate should meet the following requirements:
- Ph.D., by date of hire in Urban Studies/Planning, Geography, Public
Administration, Regional Science, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrated achievement or potential for excellence in research and
teaching related to GIS applications.
- Teaching and applied research experience in GIS and related topics (e.g.,
computer-based decision-making and database applications in urban and regional
analysis, planning, public works or public administration).
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff
researchers.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Teaching, research, and service.
- Teaching GIS in the College's degree and GIS certificate programs.
- Teach additional courses in one or more of the college degree programs.
- Maintain an active research and publication agenda.
- University/College and community service.
This faculty position also offers the opportunity to work on applied research
and technical assistance projects undertaken by the College's Urban Center,
including the Urban Center's GIS program, which maintains and provides extensive
GIS database, software, and staffing resources. It coordinates a statewide GIS
network.
