Doctoral Fellowships Available in Geographic Information Science at
Buffalo

The University at Buffalo, State University of New York, will award
fellowships of $15,000 per year to approximately seven (7) new Doctoral
students in our NSF-funded Integrative Graduate Education and Research
Training (IGERT) program in Geographic Information Science. The IGERT NSF
Fellowships are available only to US citizens or permanent residents.
IGERT-funded students will also receive tuition scholarships, university
fee remission, health insurance, conference travel support, and other cost
of education allowances. The IGERT courses also are expected to become a
certificate program at the Doctoral level, available to other admitted
students, regardless of their citizenship or funding status. To be
eligible for IGERT funding, applicants must be admitted to one of the
seven participating Ph.D. programs at Buffalo: Anthropology, Computer
Science and Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial
Engineering, Geography, Philosophy, or Political Science. The project has
an active program to seek applicants who are from groups under-represented
in American science and technology, including minority, female, and
disabled candidates. Individuals interested in becoming students in the
Geographic Information Science IGERT program at Buffalo should apply by
February 1, 2000 for full consideration for funding. For more
