Phil, glad to hear that there is a need to meet!
As you all probably know, I am on sabbatical in France this quarter, but
please go ahead and meet!

===== I am certainly open to a group concentrating on
spatial information technology in natural resources and earth
science, but I am not sure why it needs to be "separate".
UWCGIA is a loose consortium that does what its members do...

==== The payment of the UCGIS dues has been absorbed by the central
administration (thankfully) along with the ESRI license...
(that was a piece of three card monte that worked...)
Who do we send? we send the "delegates" that we "elect"
We cannot have two delegates from the same department.
Currently, I think Tim Nyerges and Frank Westerlund are the delegates.
  There can be "alternates".

In the UCGIS charter, we are obliged to send at least one delegate
to the annual retreat. The travle costs for the delegate will NOT come
from the central source. We will have to use departmental sources.
Tim and I have used Geography department sources.
--- I would be VERY happy to have a larger delegation going from UW.

=== what's in a name? I know the GIScience bug has bitten just about
everyone. Personally, I think it tendencious... The group can override my
hestitations.

=== great, thanks to Phil for his efforts in this arena.
