Hi gang!
I was just contacted by Sandra Smith of the Sequim Alternative High School.
Sandra teaches an ArcView 3.3 GIS course at the High School to a variety of
troubled teens (~18 yrs old). As part of her class, students contact NGO's
and Government agencies looking for GIS projects that they can work on (for
free) that might help the organizations. Apparently, the students in her
class have requested a field trip to the University to see how students,
research scientists and faculty are using GIS and remote sensing for their
work. Sandra has suggested the 9th or the 13th for a visit from about 10:00
to 1:00. I like the 9th myself.
The question to all of you is are you interested in presenting something or
opening up you lab for a bit to show these students what's going on? Phil
and I figured we could take up 40 minutes or so down here in forestry.
Anybody else up to giving a little show-and-tell? Heck, I'd like to see what
others have going on, sounds like a nice way to spend a few hours on a
Friday!
-Luke
