June Featured Topic: TNET Update

Gunnar Goerlitz, KC Transit GIS
Several King County departments and divisions interested in transportation
data are undertaking a major data development effort and integrated
maintenance program to produce a comprehensive, optimally accurate and
current geodatabase comprising all transportation-related spatial and
attribute datasets for the King County region. Far more than a data sharing
effort, this program will involve most KC cities and other agencies in a
consortium of data maintainers, with each participating agency maintaining
the transportation related data within their own area of interest and
regularly synchronizing their updates against the core SDE database housed
on a County server.

August Featured Topic: Response Surfaces in NCSS Modeling Using ESRI's
ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst
Richard Piel, KC Assessments

By the end of 2003, the King County Department of Assessments had the
ability to use GIS to spatially analyze and value real property. ESRI's
Geostatistical Analyst was looked upon to expand the usefulness of GIS in
the real property valuation process by analyzing location influences. A
Response Surface characteristic was viewed as a potentially valuable
addition to model building in NCSS.
