Summer GIS Technician Positions



The Coeur d'Alene Tribe in Plummer, Idaho has a need for 6-10 seasonal
GIS Technicians.  The Human Resource Department for the Tribe will start
receiving applications of April 24, 2007.  The positions will pay from
$9 - $11 per hours.  Positions start date will be as soon as people are
available and run till the end of summer or longer if adequate funding
is available.



The successful candidates will work on the following tasks:

1.	Conversion of AutoCAD county ownership parcel files to ArcGIS
geodatabase feature classes.
2.	Assist county surveyor with collection of survey control to be
used with county parcel mapping.
3.	Updating of parcel geodatabase from imagery, scanned maps, legal
descriptions and other information.
4.	Field data collation using GPS, laser rangefinder and ArcGIS for
use in verification of LiDAR data.
5.	Assistance in other mapping projects.

Coeur d'Alene Tribe GIS Background



The Coeur d'Alene Tribe has had an active Geographic Information System
(GIS) program since 1992. The Tribe uses GIS technology to collect,
store, and analyze information about the lands it has traditionally
used. Information is collected for environmental, social, and cultural
geographic features.



The Tribe currently employs six full time GIS staff with over 50 years
of combined experience in GIS.  Outside the GIS program over 30
individuals have ArcGIS installed on their computers and use GIS for
decision making at the Coeur d'Alene Tribe.



The Tribe has been recognized internationally for its use of GIS.  In
2003 and 2007 they received the Special Achievement in GIS award from
ESRI for its excellence in the field of geospatial technology.  In 2001
and 2006 the Coeur d'Alene Tribe won first place at the ESRI
International Users Conference for its development of tools built to
make doing GIS tasks easier.
