[UW-GIS-L] DEMs and display

I usually use the Seamless site (http://seamless.usgs.gov/) for
elevation data.

Hi- I need to get some DEMs for the eastern WA area. I looked at the 
wagda site but I am having problems displaying the DEM files that I get 
from there. Is there some processing that the file needs to be 
displayed? Also- is that the best way to get terrain/elevation
information
