If you are faculty, student, or staff at the University of Washington,
please read on.

I'm writing to you today to ask for your assistance with my doctoral
research project. Our research team is looking for about 15 additional
UW students, faculty or staff members to participate in a
cutting-edge, UW-Royalty Research Fund-funded study on real-time
objective measures of physical activity and built environment.
Recruitment and data collection will occur over the next few weeks.

We are looking for subjects who would be willing to wear a
cell-phone-sized device on the belt during normal waking hours for a
one-week period. This device measures and records a number of
environmental variables that can be processed into broad types of
activity (e.g., walking, running, sitting, cycling), and includes a GPS
receiver for measuring location. In addition to this device, subjects
will carry a Windows Mobile cell phone that will ring periodically as a
prompt for filling out a short survey (administered on the phone) asking
questions about current activity and location. We will also be
collecting basic demographic information, measuring height and weight,
and recording home and work address at the time of enrollment. Subjects
will be compensated $50 for their participation.

If you are interested in participating, or for more information, please
visit the project web site:

There is an eligibility form linked on the web site if you are
interested in participating.
