Subject: software

Hello Ms Zald,

I'm the chief engineer at a small software firm based in Newfoundland,
Canada. We've been working on developing stochastic modeling software and
in the process have developed a general cartography and image processing
program as a base to build the stochastic model program upon. While we're
still working on our main idea, we are selling commercially the
cartography program. Next week I'm going to be in Vancouver and Seattle
and was wondering if I might drop by the geography department to ask a few
cartography and software related questions. I'm not in the custom of
making cold-calls like this, but I've always found librarians to be
approachable. In fact, as a graduate student I worked part-time as the
geophysics librarian at UBC. If my dropping by is convenient for you, it
would be most appreciated.

Incidentally, our cartography software website is just recently (very
recently--this morning) online; you can see it at http://mapboutique.com
and get an idea of what our software does at
http://software.mapboutique.com/slideshow.

Sincerely,

Doug La Prairie
