[UW-GIS-L] access to landsat

The UW Libraries has commercially acquired global satellite imagery 1990
and 2000 (excluding the poles) for which there are indexes on wagda and
tiles can be requested by current UW affiliates.
There is some additional satellite imagery at the RTI ArcSDE server
About a year ago there was a proposal being drafted by faculty at WSU
(which is currently being revived by Mark Swanson, now on the faculty
there) to create a Washington View archive (as a component of the
AmericaView program http://www.americaview.org/) for a wide variety of
remote sensing imagery including satellite. Not sure of the time table
for that proposal but support from UW researchers would certainly be
helpful. I will probably be back in touch with this group and others to
solicit those letters.
My inquiries about buying into access for SPOT Imagery at prices
discounted for higher ed didn't go very far. Interest was dispersed
departmentally and in terms of intensity of use in compare to the up front
and per scene costs.
Who knows of other satellite resources that can be shared among UW
researchers? Can I link to them from WAGDA (wagda.lib.washington.edu)?
