[UW-GIS-L] ArcGIS 9.3 now available

The following applications have been received from ESRI:

ArcGIS Desktop 9.3
ArcINFO Workstation 9.3
ArcGIS Server 9.3 Enterprise for Windows
ArcSDE 9.3 (for windows, unix, solaris)
ArcIMS 9.3 for Windows
ArcIMS 9.3 for Unix
ArcIMS Gazetteer 9.3
ESRI Data & Maps 9.3 (on 5 DVDs)

Two options for acquiring the new software versions:

1) Circulating copies of installation media are now available in the Map 
Collection (Suzzallo Library, basement - summer quarter hours M-F 9-5). 
Software circulates for 3 days.  A wait list will be maintained.  If you 
wish to verify availability of copies for checkout, please email 
gis at lib.washington.edu

The Map Collection checks out installation media to faculty and staff ONLY 
and requires presentation of UW ID/Husky Card.  If you send a student to 
check out software on your behalf we must have prior authorization from 
the faculty/staff person.  Please send this authorization, with the 
student's name, either via email (gis at lib.washington.edu) or with the 
student on letterhead.

2) Luke Rogers has made .iso (ISO 9660) and .gi (Global Image) files of 
the software for download from here: 
http://rti.cfr.washington.edu/software/iso/esri/

PLEASE NOTE:
ArcGIS 9.3 requires a new version of the ArcGIS license server and 
everyone running ArcGIS 9.2 with a hardware key will need to upgrade their 
version of the license server to FlexLM v11.4 which is included on the 
ArcGIS Desktop installation DVD. After 8 years of service 
SDE.GIS.WASHINGTON.EDU will not be upgraded to serve ArcGIS 9.3 licenses 
but will continue to serve 9.2 and prior licenses. Instead, users can 
point to a replacement license server LICENSE.GIS.WASHINGTON.EDU which 
will serve 9.3 and all prior 9.x versions of ArcGIS.

People using the UW campus license servers will need to update their the 
license servers they point to by entering the following in the Desktop 
Administrator:

license.gis.washington.edu; shake.ess.washington.edu; 
duwamish.lib.washington.edu
