[UW-GIS-L] [Fwd: [Uwlib-gisatlib] ArcGIS Address Coder SP1 Trojan?]

Unless you are using ArcSDE and replicating data between multiple ArcSDE databases servers then you don't need the replication patch.

Subject: RE: [UW-GIS-L] [Fwd: [Uwlib-gisatlib] ArcGIS Address Coder SP1 Trojan?]

Okay - now I'm confused again.

I downloaded and ran the "PatchFinder for 9.3 utility" and all it did was report that I had "ArcGIS 9.3" installed. It provided no recommendations for service packs nor patches, just a list of installed items, one item listed as "ArcGIS 9.3".

Well, I already knew that. So what?

So I went to look at the "ArcGIS 9.3 SP1 / 9.3.1 (Desktop, Engine, Server) Geodatabase Replication Foreign Keys Patch" and was unable to answer the question of whether we are using "geodatabase replication". This SP1, 9.3.1 patch seems to be addressing server/database/synchronizing issues but I'm not sure. I'm dealing with a stand-alone, single PC installation, no servers involved.

Can you recommend with a direct link to the download(s) the service packs and/or patches that I should apply to the ArcGIS 9.3 installation?

Thank you again for your kind help.

Drew

I followed your link to the patch, but I don't see how you got there, as I don't see it on the ArcGIS Desktop page
http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?fa=downloads.patchesServicePacks.listPatches&PID=43&FilterPV=549%2C457&FilterType=8%2C5
As near as I can figure, you were misled by confusing terminology on the ESRI site; this seems to be a patch to ServicePack 1. I don't think that many people install such patches. Maybe you should just upgrade to version 9.3.1.

This leads us to a discussion of ArcGIS 9.3.1, which installs like a service pack, but (as an "upgrade"), is not on the patch site. Luke posted it on his website yesterday:
"ArcGIS 9.3.1 updates are now available at:
https://rti.cfr.washington.edu/software/iso/ESRI/
Most people will want just the Desktop stuff but be sure to run the PatchFinder to see what you need:
https://rti.cfr.washington.edu/software/iso/ESRI/ArcGIS_Desktop/9.3.1/PatchFinder931.exe

Instructions are here:
https://rti.cfr.washington.edu/software/iso/ESRI/ArcGIS_Desktop/9.3.1/Install931.htm

and if some of the files don't link you can find them in their respective directories like:
https://rti.cfr.washington.edu/software/iso/ESRI/ArcGIS_Desktop/9.3.1/
https://rti.cfr.washington.edu/software/iso/ESRI/ArcEngine/9.3.1/
https://rti.cfr.washington.edu/software/iso/ESRI/ArcGIS_Image_Server/9.3.1/
https://rti.cfr.washington.edu/software/iso/ESRI/ArcIMS/9.3.1/
https://rti.cfr.washington.edu/software/iso/ESRI/ArcSDE/9.3.1/
https://rti.cfr.washington.edu/software/iso/ESRI/ArcServer/9.3.1/
Some of the *NIX versions still aren't posted so let me know if you need them.

!!!!! USE A DOWNLOAD MANAGER IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE RETRIEVING THE FILES. !!!!!"

I tried your site Luke, and I could download the pdf and exe files, but the I could not get the msp files of firefox, IE, wget, or python. Sorry to whine, but what's going on. Is there something that works, Luke?
