[UW-GIS-L] arcgis and arcsde datatypes with oracle

The tech rep telephoned me and summarized -

When instantiating new feature classes in 9.2 the default data type used to be LONG or LONG RAW with Oracle. This was deprecated by Oracle. If you use the ESRI defined type ST_GEOMETRY the underlying class is now a LOB. You must, however, not supersede the datatype and put in LONG or LONG RAW to adhere to Oracle standards.
Use ArcSDE 9.3 and ArcGIS 9.3 or 9.3.1. Quality check your results within the database after instantiation in production.
