Yes, that 1" (~30m) DEM is the finest world dataset. Although it shows
fine detail, there is a distracting nubbiness, and I usually use the 3"
(~90m) SRTM data, especially the HydroSHEDS version. If you don't want
to download and mosaic it yourself, I have much of Asia as a
(conditioned) 3" DEM and a hillshade. The hillshade has bilinear
pyramids, which is the only decent way to display high-resolution
hillshades. You can arrange to come by my office and clip out what you
want. If you want to start at a lower resolution, the HydroSHEDS site
has that too.
