[UW-GIS-L] Splitting and combining polygons with area thresholds

Would the "merge" function in the editor be what you're after?

Just select the individual polygons you want to merge, either manually
or through a "select by attributes" (by size/area I'm assuming) query,
while in an editing session and choose merge from the dropdown menu...

Subject: [UW-GIS-L] Splitting and combining polygons with area
thresholds

Hi,

I am working with a set of polygons that represent forest stands. Some
stands are represented by multiple polygons and I need to combine them
to create single units of a threshold area. Other stand polygons are
larger than a threshold area size that I need to work with. A friend of
mine helped me figure out combining these via dissolve and splitting
larger polygons via the editor "cut polygon features" tool. However, the
set of polygons I am working with is quite large. Does anyone have an
idea for how I might go about automating this process a bit more? Thank
you.
