For those of you planning to attend the Northwest GIS User Group
conference (http://nwgis.org/) in Spokane next week please find below
bios and specialties for the Esri staff supporting the conference. Come

_TJ Abbenhaus _is a Solutions Engineer for Esri. TJ has over 18 years of
GIS application development in the areas of natural resources, and
county/state/local government. Examples of TJ’s work include innovative
GIS applications for the Montana State Library (Spatial Data
Clearinghouse NRIS) and the University of Montana (Center for the Rocky
Mountain West, Regional Economies Assessment Database). Before coming to
Esri he was a GIS Programmer Analyst for Kitsap County, Washington where
he developed customized applications with ArcIMS, ArcGIS and Enterprise
ArcGIS Server. TJ’s product expertise includes ArcGIS Server, Image
Server extension, programming with FLEX, Geoprocessing, and ArcGIS
Explorer. TJ also serves as the regional point of contact for the
Community Maps Program

TJ received his M.A. in Geography/Internet Cartography in 2003 from the
University of Montana.
_Marty Balikov_ manages a natural resources and government consulting
portfolio for Esri out of the Olympia Regional Office where his team
provides consulting and implementation services to both public and
private customers. He received a Bachelor’s in Geography from the
University of Oregon and a Master’s in Cartography from the University
of Wisconsin-Madison before going to work for Esri Professional Services
in 1986. He spent 4 years as a GIS Consultant and 4 years as a County
GIS Program Manager before returning to Esri in 1997 as Olympia Regional
Manager and then as Portfolio Manager in 2009.

_Jeff Barrette_ is part of the Holistic Testing Team. He works closely
with customers, testing their workflows against the most current
development software builds, identifying potential issues, and
presenting that information to the appropriate Software Developments
teams to improve the final product. Jeff has spent the last 18 months
focused on the new ArcGIS 10 ArcPy map scripting environment and is one
of the lead Product Engineers for this project. During the development
of the ArcPy API Jeff has helped customers migrate some AML and
ArcObjects-based applications into the new arcpy.mapping framework.
_Shane Clarke_ is the Solutions Engineering Manager for the Esri Olympia
regional office, and is part of a team who provide pre- and post-sales
technical support to ESRI’s customers. Previously, Shane was the ArcPad
Product Manager, and has been part of ESRI’s mobile GIS efforts since
the initial release of ArcPad in early 2000. He joined ESRI in 1993.
_Chuck Cmeyla_ is the Public Works Industry Manager for Esri. He is
responsible for thought leadership and brand awareness in the public
works industry, and, being a vehicle for the “voice-of-our-customers.”
He has over 30 years experience in public works, being part of both
public and private segments of the industry. He is also a past board
member of the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA) and
an active member of American Public Works Association (APWA) and the
National Association of County Engineers (NACE).
_Carol Dargatz_ is the Esri Training Consultant for State and Local
Government in the California and Northwest regions. She has been with
Esri Educational Services for 3½ years and began her career at Esri as
an instructor. She currently works to ensure Esri customers receive the
training they need to be successful. Through individual and agency
consultations, she identifies GIS knowledge gaps and recommends
appropriate training. Carol will be running the Hands-On Learning Lab on
Friday morning at the conference.
_Mike Ruth_ manages complex enterprise GIS projects and programs for
large federal, state, defense, and international customers. Mike is
currently working on projects related to Non Governmental Organizations
(NGO’s), Tribal governance, and Homeland Security geospatial database
needs. His expertise includes design and definition of data warehousing
strategies, database modeling, applications requirements, and
implementation of database migration methods. Mike has worked in the
area of automation of cartographic processes used for production of
topographic line maps and other types of mapping information products.
He is a technical support resource and trainer for Esri’s Production
Mapping solutions

(formerly PLTS) suite of productivity software tools for enterprise GIS
implementations.
_John Sharrard _has been with Esri since 1994, working in the Portland
satellite office. John is currently a GIS Solutions Engineer focusing
support for Esri software users in the Pacific Northwest region and
provides them with GIS architecture design, application development, and
other related services. John’s areas of expertise include 3D modeling,
transportation, logistics, spatial analysis, and their applications in
GIS. Before Esri, he worked for the State Service Center for Geographic
Information Systems, State of Oregon, holding increasingly key positions
culminating in the role of GIS systems architect and administrator.
John has a B.S. in Geography with coursework in cartography, geographic
information systems, remote sensing, geomorphology, water resources, and
oceanography.
_Nathalie Smith_ is currently the Esri Olympia Regional Manager
responsible for promoting the Esri culture, objectives, mission, and
vision and for developing & executing national sales plan in the
Northwest Region (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington). She
has over 20 years of experience in the GIS industry encompassing sales,
Esri product release management in domestic and international markets,
customer relations, and licensing.
