Thank you - that did the trick. I executed the resample tool through arc
catalog and the snapping worked properly.

There is a bug in Arc 10 that prevents the SnapRaster from working
correctly if you have the rasters in question loaded into the ArcMap
session you are starting the tool from.

There is an easy workaround: SnapRaster will work correctly if you use
ArcCatalog to start the tool or, if you use ArcMap to start the tool, then
don't have the raster you're snapping to loaded in ArcMap.
