I'm assuming you are using a recent version of ArcMap/Catalog, etc. I
believe the Import tool described in this tutorial is now in ArcCatalog
or maybe the toolbox, and you can replace the instances of "ArcView"
with ArcMap (newer) and it should work ok.
I think I remember this tool hating spaces/special characters, so I
would save any output right to the root of your hard drive
(C:/output/filename...).
"import from e00 (conversion)" -- this is the tool (type the name in to
search in ArcCatalog/ArcMap) in the toolbox, the above tutorial might be
outdated, I would try this first...

Subject: [UW-GIS-L] Convert E00 to csv
Hello,
I have some sea ice charts that are E00 files. I need to convert them
to csv format that would show latitudes and longitudes of many polygons
for a particular ice type.
Can any one give me a hint on how I can do this conversion using GIS?
Do I have to first convert E00 to shapefile and then to csv?
I have no experience with GIS. So any suggestion would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks!
