[UW-GIS-L] stretching a hillshade

Hi

I have some hillshades that I would like to display better by stretching 
the center of the range 0-255 so that I can minimize the super dark or 
light faces. Any suggestions? I'm using old ArcINFO, so I was hoping for 
some functions I can include in a dinosaur AML.
