Dear ARCE/NW members,
I am pleased to announce our next lecture, co-sponsored by the University
of Washington's Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization. We
have a large room to fill this time to hear some of our finest local
talent. Please print this poster and display it proudly on your door!
Please note that the time for the lecture has changed since the original
announcement: the lecture is now scheduled for 6 PM rather than 7 PM.
Benson Harer, Jr., M.D., Adjunct Professor,
California State University at San Bernadino
"Who Killed King Tut?"
Thursday, November 30, 2006, 6 PM
Location: Smith Hall, Room 205
University of Washington
Admission: FREE
About the presentation:
Since the discovery in 1922 of King Tutankhamun's tomb, speculation has
raged as to the cause of the boy king's death. In 2006, a computerized
tomographic (CT) scan was performed on Tut's body. The scans, combined
with previously known data, have permitted Dr. Harer to develop a
radically new explanation for the cause of King Tut's death. Dr. Harer
will share his conclusions with ARCE members and the public on November
30. His findings will also be published in an upcoming issue of one of
the world's leading journals of Egyptology.
About the presenter:
W. Benson Harer, Jr., MD is an adjunct professor of Egyptology in the
Department of Humanities at California State University at San Bernardino.
He has published numerous articles on Egyptology, including several that
combine his knowledge of medicine with his passion for ancient history and
archaeology. He recently retired as Chief of Staff at Riverside County
Regional Medical Center and has served as President of the American
College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Harer has served on the ARCE
Board of Governors since 1981 and is on the board of the Northwest Chapter
of ARCE in Seattle.
This lecture is co-sponsored by the University of Washington's Department
of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization.
