Unsubscribing
In order to unsubscribe from a ListProc mailing list, you will need to know
the name of the list that you are subscribed to. You can probably find the
name of the list in the email messages that you've been receiving - those
messages are sent to the list so the list name will be in the To field in
the form of listname at u.washington.edu.
To get off a list, send email to the ListProc server
(listproc at u.washington.edu) containing the following command in the Message
Text (body) of the message:

unsubscribe listname
(where you substitute in the real name of the list for "listname").

You should receive by email a confirmation that you've been removed from the
list. If you receive an error message and need help resolving the problem,
you should contact the list owner.

If you don't have the list owner's address, you can get it from the ListProc
server by sending email with the following command in the message Text
(body) of the message:

review listname short
(where you substitute in the real name of the list for "listname").
The instructions above are specific to email distribution lists which use
the "ListProcessor" server (ListProc for short). There are other widely used
distribution list servers, and the commands they use may vary somewhat from
those shown above. You can usually get these server programs to repsond to a
simple "help" as the only text in a message that you send to the server
address.
