Hey guys,

Attached you'll find a copy of our team training plan that leads from
today all through the regular NWCCC season and up until road
nationals. Also integrated are "pre-season" races like Mason Lake
and our mid-season bye weekend where the Brad Lewis Memorial
Criterium will take place.

The training plan is geared toward riders at the A category level...
i.e. riders with several years of race experience and who have
already been working on their base miles. For most people starting
racing and training this season, the amount here will probably be too
much. Our coach, Lang Reynolds of CycleU, recommends the following:

"As far as recommendations for more beginning cyclists, I would
probably decrease the volume by ~10% and leave out one of the
workouts per week. It's not a huge volume program so there's not
much to cut on that side of things, but it would probably be better
for them to only do one or two workouts during the week so as to not
over-do things. The most important things for them will be doing as
much group riding as possible, so if they can just get in a workout
during the week with some easy rides to fill things out, that would
probably work pretty well."

With any kind of training plan remember the reason you're training:

We're not riding/racing bikes to train. We're riding/racing them for
fun.

If it feels like you're riding too much don't hesitate to ease off of
the plan for a day and rest or cross train with another sport. I,
and many of the other veteran members of the club, can tell you that
it's much better to take a day or two off than to burn out on the
sport all together. Don't be intimidated by an apparent "lack" of
fitness. It's also worth saying that training plans work for various
people at different levels... you probably shouldn't reorganize your
life around this plan.

All that stuff being said, this plan will provide the general
structure for our team rides on Saturday and Sunday as well as my
personal open-to-the-team rides on Thursdays.
