Hearing Mothers, Deaf Children Sought for Research Study
On Communication, Cognitive Development, and Behavior

Heather Hamilton and Lisa Marshall, doctoral students in the
clinical psychology program at Gallaudet University, are looking
for hearing mothers and their deaf children who are between the
ages of 6 and 11 years who have a severe to profound hearing loss
(70 decibels or greater in better ear) to voluntarily participate
in a research study.

The purpose of this study is to help the field of deafness
learn more about the relationships among communication mode,
communication abilities, and cognitive and behavioral
development. Hamilton and Marshall will ask mothers to fill out
some questionnaires, and play a communication game, then test
their child(ren). Participation will require approximately 2-1/2
hours. All children who participate will receive a FREE T-shirt.

Those who are interested should send e-mail to Heather
