I think you've already gotten some good advice on this, but here's some
additional input...and CHEAP. You need a sound card for this.
Dragon systems (the Dragon dictate folks) makes/made a product called
Talk-To Plus, which is a voice navigation program. We've found it to be
quite serviceable.
the great thing is that it is bundled with a piece of software that has
been discontinued, so you can get them both for $2.99. YUP. ...two ninety
nine. At that price you can't afford NOT to try it.
Call Surplus Software at 1-800-753-7877 and order any of the following:
Planit Earth (PRODUCT ORDER # IS PEAR)
Planit Adrenaline (PADAR)
Planit Paradise (PPAR)
These are NEW (not used) products...I think Talk TO Plus is still a viable
product, but the Planit series was axed, so the price came tumbling.
At these prices they may go fast (we paid $15 at the first
reduction....this is clearance sale now)
We just use the sound card (SB16) that came with our computers and the
desktop microphone. A friend also has this and finds that he can issue
commands effectively from across the room.
I think $400 is too much for a navigation only program....check out
TalkTo Plus...it's a nice program.
