computer access question

i need help.  i'm trying to help a client access her computer, but have 
run into problems.  she has a Prentke Romich Liberator, an MTI5 cable, a 
Gateway 2000 Pentium, and Window's '95.  it should be a simple matter of 
connecting the the cable from the Liberator to the serial port of the PC 
and then running the access pack options, but it's not working.  the baud 
rates are all set appropriately;further, i managed to get the device 
working properly using a different computer with Window's 3.1.  has 
anyone run into similar problems with either a Gateway PC or Window's
