Kim,
I have used the Wells-Engberg hand controls very successfully for almost six years. I have a 1989 Dodge
Caravan. I have quadriplegia at the C5 level and drive from my power wheelchair.
The Wells-Engberg staff have always been very responsive to my questions, spending as much time as needed
to help me troubleshoot any problems I've had and help me understand how the system works. They will also sell
parts directly to me as an individual, with expedited shipping. The system I own operates on compressed air, a
technology that is common in Recreational Vehicles, providing a large base of local repair and service expertise.
The system has never created an extraordinary drain on my single, heavy-duty battery.
Although I have focused on repairs, since this is the only time I notice what system I'm using, I have had few
instances of problems. The most common problem is with air leaks. The aspect I find most valuable about the
system is that air leaks generally develop gradually, causing the air compressor to run longer or more frequently.
This symptom lets me know to have the system serviced very soon, but doesn't leave me stranded. Electrical
systems fail abruptly, leaving me dependent on my rapidly diminishing wits.
